MakIng Tennis Vegan
We’re determined to rid tennis of animal cruelty. Our highest priority is replacing wool-covered tennis balls with vegan tennis balls. Please join us.
We're in the midst of independently developing Sheeps certified-vegan tennis balls. However, this undertaking is proving to be arduous. And we don't want consumers to wait longer for this product. Most important, we must hasten the effort to spare sheep. Existing tennis ball companies are best positioned to rapidly produce certified vegan tennis balls, so we mounted an advocacy campaign focused on imploring them to do so. Simultaneously, Sheeps production efforts will continue — unless Wilson, Penn, Babolat, Dunlop or another company commits to producing exclusively certified-vegan tennis balls. In that case, happily, Sheeps tennis balls will no longer be necessary, and we’ll pursue such other innovations as a biodegradable tennis ball, certified-vegan tennis shoes and vegan gear for other sports.
The Case For Going Wool-Free
It’s commonly perceived that providing wool for humans is the natural role for sheep and that farm sheep are well-treated. Sadly, indeed tragically, this is untrue. These sheep are bred and commodified to suit the purposes of the wool industry, and their lives are too often marked by extreme suffering, and nearly invariably, they are put to slaughter when they no longer produce marketable wool. Moreover, wool production is damaging to the environment and contributes to environmental predicaments such as climate change and water pollution.
